Too many people work in isolation, expected to follow instructions, at school or in the workplace, with very little clue about the end product or the reason why. Consequently, there is often poor quality performance, inferior products and a negative working environment.

The passenger Syndrome

If you were asked to go outside and dig a 3 m deep 4 m wide hole in your backyard, would you do it? I can confidently say that anyone reading this would shake their head with an emphatic 'NO WAY!!!!'

Now, why would that be?

Because you do NOT at this stage, have any incentive, reason, nor motivation to comply. At this moment that request sounds, feels and is TOTALLY UNREASONABLE.

Well, that's how thousands of people young and old feel in many education, work and home contexts.

Often, an explanation is all that's needed to motivate lots of students, employees and other individuals to be pro-active about creating results.

 'Would $1000 for digging the hole make a difference? How about that this hole is the first step in building a cyclone shelter that will save lives? Now you feel a bit more at ease about that request don't you? Motivation is the key.
